Columbus, GA - The RiverDogs managed just two hits at Golden Park on Sunday, but pulled out a 1-0 victory over the Colmbus Catfish as
Tim Battle drove in the games only run with a groundout in the top of the ninth inning.
Charleston (36-26 second half, 74-58 overall) took three of four games in the series and have won 23 of their last 31. Columbus fell to 31-31 and 68-64.
RiverDogs starting pitcher
Wilkins Arias improved his ERA to 3.13 with seven shutout innings. The lefthander settled for a no-decision despite allowing just two hits, and has not surrendered a run in his last three games.
James McDonald was near-perfect in eight innings for the Catfish, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out eight.
Joey Norrito (2-2) walked
J.T. LaFountain leading off the top of the ninth to start the deciding rally.
Jeff Beachum pinch ran for LaFountain and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Estee Harris.
Austin Jackson extended his hitting streak to eight games with a line single to right, setting up Battles RBI groundout to third.
David Seccombe (5-4) earned the win with two strikeouts in 1-1/3 innings.
Abel Gomez got the final two outs in the bottom of the ninth, stranding two runners to earn his second save of the series.
