Columbus, GA - Thursday nights scheduled game between the Charleston RiverDogs and the Columbus Catfish was postponed due to unplayable field conditions at Golden Park.
Though it did not rain on Thursday, recent storms in the Columbus area softened the turf and left puddles in the outfield.
A doubleheader has been scheduled for Friday, with the first of two seven-inning games set to begin at 6:00pm. In the opener,
Christian Garcia (2-1, 2.22 ERA), who has struck out 21 batters in 13 innings over his last two starts, will pitch for the RiverDogs against Joseph Jones (1-1, 2.51). The RiverDogs will send southpaw
Zach Kroenke (7-6, 3.62) to the mound in the second game.
The Catfish (30-28 second half, 67-61 overall) bring an eight-game winning streak into the doubleheader, while Charleston (33-25, 71-57) has won 20 of its last 27. Columbus holds a 13-7 edge in the season series against the RiverDogs.
