Charleston RiverDogs Baseball An Introduction
The Lowcountry's leader in sports entertainment, RiverDogs baseball is an attractive, affordable medium for your group or business. The RiverDogs develop the next major league stars for the 26-time World Champion New York Yankees at one of the finest ballparks in Minor League Baseball - Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. "The Joe" is also a major concert venue and home to The Citadel college baseball, the Southern Conference tournament, and many other community events.
Three short words sum up the every day approach taken by the Charleston RiverDogs front office. Based on the mantra of Co-owner and President Mike Veeck, the nine-letter phrase "Fun Is Good" is meant to be a guideline and daily reminder of how employees should approach their jobs and in turn capture the imagination of the fans to turn them into repeat customers. This approach creates an excellent working relationship for your organization and the wide variety of clientele that can be reached through the attendees of RiverDogs games. Veeck and the "Fun Is Good" philosophy became intertwined with Charleston baseball in 1994 and since then the RiverDogs have utilized zany, headline-catching promotions and the customer-comes-first approach in order to set record attendance numbers season after season.
The RiverDogs had yet another banner year in 2006. The team set new all-time Charleston professional baseball attendance records for both total attendance and average attendance, drawng 267,908 fans to 67 home dates- an average of 3,999 per game. The 2006 RiverDogs finished with the third best overall record in the 16 team South Atlantic League and look to field another exciting team in 2007, their third year as a New York Yankees affiliate.
RiverDogs Baseball and Riley park are effective marketing tools for any organization with more than 350,000 fans entering the ballpark each year, your message is sure to reach its intended audience.
